MoveIt ("the software") is provided free of charge and "as is," without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. You use MoveIt entirely at your own risk.
No warranty
The authors and copyright holders make no guarantee that the software will keep your Mac awake, complete any task, prevent data loss, suspend your Claude sessions when intended, resume them afterwards, or operate without interruption or error. Operating-system behavior, power settings, hardware, and other software may affect results.
Limitation of liability
In no event shall the authors or copyright holders be liable for any claim, damages, or other liability — whether in an action of contract, tort, or otherwise — arising from, out of, or in connection with the software or its use. This includes, without limitation, any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages such as lost work, interrupted AI or model runs, unfinished downloads, suspended or unresumed processes, overheating, increased power consumption, hardware wear, or any other loss.
Your responsibility
- Keeping your Mac awake prevents sleep and may increase power draw, heat, and battery use. Monitor your hardware.
- You are responsible for the workloads you run and for saving your own work.
- Grant system permissions (e.g. Accessibility) only if you understand and accept them.
- Enabling the session tracker modifies
~/.claude/settings.jsonand suspends processes on your machine. Keep your own backup of that file if it matters to you. - Use the software in compliance with your local laws and the policies of your device and employer.
Privacy
MoveIt has no accounts, no telemetry, and makes no network requests of its own. Nothing about you or your work leaves your Mac. It monitors input only to detect whether you are active, and does not log or transmit that.
With the Claude session tracker enabled, MoveIt does write to your disk. It records each Claude
Code session's id, process id, start time and reported usage under
~/.claude/usage-state/, and it sets the statusLine key in
~/.claude/settings.json to its own recorder, storing your previous value so it can be
restored. Those files stay in your home directory. Disabling the tracker restores your settings,
and the records can be deleted at any time.
Suspending Claude sessions
When you enable the session tracker, MoveIt sends SIGSTOP to claude
processes it has recorded usage for, and SIGCONT when the usage window resets. A
suspended process stops executing entirely. Network connections it holds may time out; locks,
leases and remote sessions it holds may expire; and anything waiting on it may fail while it is
stopped.
MoveIt signals individual processes and never process groups, verifies each target's identity before every signal, records what it has suspended before suspending it, and resumes anything it has recorded at every launch and after every wake. It cannot guarantee that a suspension is harmless to your particular workload, or that a resume always succeeds. Enable this feature only if that trade is one you want to make.
Acceptance
By downloading, installing, or using MoveIt you acknowledge that you have read this disclaimer and agree to use the software entirely at your own risk.
